The CAMPFIRE GUIDE
EXT. THE WILDEST WEST
Ridgewalkers was made for more than quiet reading. Gather a few friends, choose your setting, assign your characters, and bring the story to life as a shared read aloud adventure. Whether you are sitting beside a crackling fire, sheltering from a storm, or reading beneath the night sky, a little atmosphere can make the strange world beyond Lone Pine feel much closer.

Helpful Tips for Reading Aloud
SET UP CAMP

Choose a soundtrack to establish the mood. Banjo music or another old west inspired instrumental playlist works particularly well. If you are outdoors, the sounds of the forest may provide all the atmosphere you need.
Firelight is ideal. If a campfire is not possible, dim the lights and use lanterns or candles where it is safe to do so. Keep water nearby, both for your voice and for basic fire safety. Grab a blanket, pour your beverage of choice, and get comfortable before the journey begins.
DOWN TO BUSINESS
Gather your group and assign the speaking roles before you start. The manuscript contains around sixteen speaking characters, so smaller groups can divide multiple characters among themselves. Three or more readers can make the experience especially lively.
Choose one person to handle narration. If your narrator has enough to manage, rotate the role between chapters. Read through the character descriptions first and use them to inspire different voices, personalities, and performances.
Most importantly, have fun with it. Ridgewalkers mixes suspense with humor, character banter, history, and high strangeness, so do not be afraid to perform the story rather than simply read it.
And, of course, keep an eye on the darkness beyond your campfire.
